Alt'Opera

Kirsten Morrison (high coloratura soprano) and Peter Shipman (countertenor) have been singing together for several years. They have performed with many opera companies and are founder members of Eclectic Opera which has staged pieces at The Kings Head, the Bridewell and The Arcola Theatre as well as at several festivals and fringe venues. Kirsten is also a composer and has written several operas for the company.

Peter has performed a wide range of countertenor roles including Oberon (Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream), Orfeo (Gluck), several Handel roles (Jeptha, Joshua and Rinaldo) and Stabat Mater (Pergolesi) with Metta Theatre. His own one-man devised show of Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad was performed to wide acclaim at the Arcola Theatre and he has also performed at the Liege Opera House with experimental electronica group “New Opera Hero”.

Kirsten also performs her own original operatic crossover music throughout Europe – recent shows include appearances at the Schauspielhaus in Leipzig as part of the WGT Festival and the Ule Hali Festival in Tallinn. Traditional operatic roles include: Rusalka, Lakme, Queen of the Night, Musetta, Olympia and Violetta.
